Who I Work With
ADOLESCENTS (11-17 years)
It can be especially tricky for teenagers to engage with counselling, particularly when they find it difficult to understand, put into words or talk about what they’re feeling or is happening in their lives. I adapt my approach to suit each young person’s age and developmental stage, giving them the time and space to express themselves and begin to make sense of what they’re going through.
Some of the issues I work with include anxiety and stress | low mood and depression | self-esteem and confidence | anger and emotional regulation | identity | friendship difficulties, peer relationships and bullying | academic pressure and school-related stress | family difficulties | bereavement, grief and loss | school refusal and emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA) | self-harm | suicidal thoughts
YOUNG ADULTS (18-24 years)
While many life challenges and wellbeing issues are shared across age groups, young adults aged 18-24 can face a particular combination of transitions, pressures and uncertainties.
Counselling provides the opportunity to talk through these experiences, helping them find ways to navigate them and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
I support young adults with life transitions, such as moving away from home, starting university or entering the workforce | academic pressure | career uncertainty | anxiety and stress | low mood and depression | self-esteem and confidence | identity | relationship difficulties | friendship and peer difficulties | family difficulties | loneliness and isolation | financial stress.
ADULTS
Counselling can be a space to focus on what’s happening in the present, reflect on past experiences and recognise patterns that may be having an impact. It can help build greater self-awareness, explore different ways of responding and identify what might be helpful to change or approach differently.
I support a wide range of issues including anxiety and stress | low mood and depression | relationship difficulties, separation and divorce | bereavement, grief and loss | parenting and family difficulties | life transitions | work-related issues | trauma and difficult past experiences | emotional regulation | self-esteem and confidence | abuse | imprisonment and involvement with the criminal justice system.
