Experience & Support
ADOLESCENTS (11-17 years)
It can be especially tricky for teenagers to engage with counselling as they often face unique challenges and limitations when it comes to understanding, exploring or talking about emotional issues. I adapt my approach to suit each young person’s age and developmental stage in the hope that they feel safe to express themselves and begin to make sense of what they’re going through.
Common issues I support include anxiety | low mood | anger | self-esteem struggles | identity questions | family conflict | academic pressure | friendship or peer relationship difficulties | bereavement & loss | self-harming | suicidal ideation | school refusal and emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA).
YOUNG ADULTS (18-24 years)
While many life challenges and wellbeing issues are shared across age groups, young people aged between 18-24 often face a unique combination of transitional and age-specific issues.
I provide a supportive space to explore these challenges which can help the young person build resilience and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
I can support young adults with issues including life transitions such as moving away from home, starting university, or entering the workforce | academic pressure | career uncertainty | relationship challenges | peer pressure | family dynamics | mental health struggles – anxiety, depression and low mood | loneliness and isolation | financial stress.
ADULTS
Counselling offers space to reflect on past experiences, recognise patterns in relating to others, understand emotions and explore ways forward. It can support healing, build self-awareness and healthier coping and feel empowering for many adults.
I offer support for a wide range of issues including anxiety | low mood | relationship difficulties | grief & loss | life transitions | family concerns | imprisonment & involvement with the criminal justice system | work-related issues | trauma | emotional regulation challenges | self-esteem issues | abuse.
